Position Summary:

A Research Associate I is an entry level position for Bachelor’s degree with no prior experience and reports to a scientist level or above on relevant projects. The individual is responsible for routinely setting up, operating, and maintaining the downstream lab equipment under direct supervision.

Responsibilities:

  1. Setup, operate, and maintain the downstream bioprocess related equipment, such as AKTA, TFF system, centrifuge, filters, to carry out the experiments of the relevant projects under direct supervision
  2. Record data and provide updates to a project’s fermentation team lead on a regular basis
  3. Order the needed materials and supplies for the relevant projects
  4. Work with the other project team members to solve any arising problems during the project period
  5. Attend the regular group meetings to update the progresses of the projects
  6. Maintain all notebooks and documentation according to department standards
  7. Write SOPs, and batch records
  8. Ability to work well in a team environment. and independently as required
  9. Ensure and promote safe environmental and laboratory practices

Qualifications:

  1. BS degrees in biology, biochemistry, biomedical/biochemical engineering, or related fields
  2. ≤1 year of downstream process development experience
  3. Familiar with downstream processes including primary recovery, chromatography, ultrafiltration/diafiltration, viral filtration/inactivation, pH and conductivity measurement, UV/Vis spectrophotometer for biologics drug substances development
  4. A practical understanding of process development and applies knowledge in support of product development
  5. Ability to work individually or as part of a team
  6. Flexible and results oriented
  7. Good written and verbal communication skills
  8. Basic math and MS Office software skills (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
