Position Summary:
The Operations Manager is responsible for managing logistical operations at BIB, with an emphasis on overseeing procurement and financial activities. This role will be expected to maintain close communication with management, staff, clients, and vendors to ensure proper operations of the company; develop, implement, and maintain operational policies and protocols; increase the efficiency of existing processes and procedures to enhance the company’s internal organization; ensure that operational activities remain on time and within budget. We are looking for a highly organized, flexible, and hardworking professional with an unwavering “can do” attitude.
Responsibilities:
- Provide support to technical team within a time-sensitive and demanding environment for a global team
- Overall responsibility for procurement process, from initial requisition to vendor management, negotiations and invoice payments
- Research and compare suppliers, goods and services to ensure reliability, product quality, and cost efficiencies
- Partner with cross-functional teams to improve proprietary tools and systems
- Work closely with legal and safety departments to ensure that activities remain compliant
- Conduct budget reviews and report cost plans to upper management
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in operations management, business administration, biotechnology or related field
- Five or more years of proven success in an operations management role, preferably in a biotech environment
- Ability to analyze complex problems, interpret operational needs, and develop integrated, creative solutions
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community
- Proficiency in conflict management and business negotiation processes
- Knowledge of business software and an aptitude for learning new applications
- Ability to demonstrate achievement of results e.g. business improvements, cost savings, revenue generation
- Strong IT skills, including database management
- Human resources experience a plus
- Ability to communicate in Mandarin Chinese would be helpful
